    Prairie Lakes Healthcare System is actively seeking a full-time Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner for the Cardiology Department. Reporting to the Vice President of Clinic Operations, this position provides specialized care for cardiology patients in accordance with established standards, policies, and scope of practice under physician direction and works in collaboration with physicians and other health professionals.

    Qualified applicant requirements: Current certification from an accredited PA or NP program required. Basic Life Support certification. Meets criteria established by the profession to perform duties defined as those of a NP or PA, South Dakota Controlled Substance Certificate, DEA license required.
    Nurse Practitioner - Holds or is eligible for licensure as a registered nurse in South Dakota.

  2. CARE TECHNICIAN
    STATUS: Full-time (.9)
    (12 hr/rotating shifts every 3rd weekend/holiday)

    DEPARTMENT: Medical/Surg/Peds

    DUTIES: Performs general clerical/secretarial duties requiring responsible judgment and discretion in assisting nursing personnel. Answers telephone calls to the unit handling or referring inquiries as appropriate. Transcribes orders for approval by nursing staff. Responsible for combining the tasks of unit order and cleanliness. Provides assistance to the nursing staff of Med/Surg/Peds with patient cares. Performs related duties as required/requested.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or possesses a GED certificate. Strong interpersonal skills are necessary. Must be adept at communicating from age neonate through geriatric years of age. Knowledge of medical terminology required.

    OTHER INFORMATION: Works rotating day/evening shifts, every third weekend and holiday.

  3. CATH LAB DIRECTOR
    Prairie Lakes Healthcare System is currently searching for a Cath Lab Director. This position ensures twenty-four responsibility for the quality and delivery of patient care provided in the Cardiovascular Catheterization Lab. The Director establishes the policies, standards and objectives for the provision of services and coordinates with other departments in order to provide maximum level of services to patients and hospital staff. Qualified applicants must be a current RN, Cardiovascular Technologist (RCIS or eligible) or RT with minimum of 3 years clinical experience in an interventional setting. Supervisory experience preferred.

  4. CODING SPECIALIST
    STATUS: Full-Time – (1.0)
    DEPARTMENT: Coding

    DUTIES: Assigns ICD-9-CM and CPT 4/HCPCS codes for billing purposes. Works with Utilization Review to provide proper documentation to obtain the proper DRG. Abstracts pertinent information from patient records assigning ICD-9-CM or CPT codes, creating APC or DRG group assignments. Queries physicians when applicable. Other duties may be assigned.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associates Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or equivalent combination experience. Inpatient coding experience required. Strong background in coding and reimbursement preferred. RHIT, RHIA, CCS, and CCS-P certification status preferred.

  5. ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY (RDCS) RELIEF
    STATUS: PRN – Relief status with call on weeknights and weekends

    DEPARTMENT: Radiology

    DUTIES: Will perform echocardiography and vascular ultrasound exams. Performs related work as required.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of two years of training in AMA approved school of ultrasound echocardiography/vascular technology. Registry eligible by ARDMS in RVT RDCS. Preference will be given to applicants with Abd/OB/GYN/ and or Vascular Ultrasound experience.



  6. EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT OR NURSE PRACTITIONER
    Prairie Lakes Healthcare System (PLHS), located in Watertown South Dakota, is actively seeking full-time or part-time Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner providers for the Emergency Department. Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer, this position is responsible and accountable for the provision of emergency care and management of patients in collaboration with the physician-directed patient care team.

    Qualified applicant requirements: Graduate from an approved Physician Assistant or Family Nursing Practitioner program; holds or is eligible for certification and licensure in the State of South Dakota. Two (2) years progressively responsible experience required. Must hold or be willing to achieve certification in ACLS, PALS, and ATLS.

  7. PHYSICAL THERAPY ASSISTANT
    STATUS: PRN
    DEPARTMENT: Therapy Services

    DUTIES: Coordinates and provides Physical Therapy services that are appropriate to the patient and family. Supervises and coordinates the Physical Therapy Technician. Maintains current patient and departmental records and charges. Performs other duties as assigned.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate from an accredited PTA program with an Associates degree in Physical Therapy Assisting. Holds or is eligible for licensure as a PTA in the State of South Dakota.

  8. REGISTERED NURSE – CATH LAB
    STATUS: Regular full-time (.8) with 24/7 call
    DEPARTMENT: Cardiac Catheterization Lab

    DUTIES: Provides nursing care for all patients in accordance with established standards, policies, procedures, licensure, and scope of practice. Utilizes the nursing process in providing care and includes the process in documentation, identifying unusual conditions, and utilizing initiative and judgment to carry out appropriate response. Administers prescribed medications and treatments and patient specific cares to patient in accordance with approved nursing techniques. Responsible for complete patient assessment and documents on the Cardiac Cath Flow sheet. Demonstrates ability to function as scrub nurse, circulating nurse and do hemodynamic monitoring.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of an approved Registered Nurse Program Holds or is eligible for current licensure in the State of South Dakota. CPR required. Must be eligible for (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification. Trauma Nurse Critical Care (TNCC) and Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification is optional. Prior Cath Lab experience preferred or a minimum of 1 year Critical Care experience required.

    STATUS: Full Time – (.9)
    Includes weekend and holiday rotation
    DEPARTMENT: CCU

    DUTIES: Responsible for the delivery of total patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation. Will be expected to perform charge work duties. Maintains standards of professional nursing. Performs related work duties as required. Will be required to take patient assignments in other nursing units as directed.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate from an approved school of nursing and currently licensed in the State of South Dakota or eligible for licensure. One to two years of nursing experience is required. One to two years of CCU experience is preferred. Applicants with ACLS certification preferred or will be necessary to attain. Certification in CPR required.

  10. REGISTERED NURSE-PRN
    STATUS: PRN
    DEPARTMENT: Cancer Center (Medical & Radiation Oncology)

    DUTIES: Provides specialized nursing services and care to radiation and hematology and oncology patients. Facilitates physician clinic practices to provide optimal patient care. Provides baseline and ongoing patient assessments. Performs telephone triaging and follow-up on patient care as needed. Maintains proper and thorough documentation of all encounters and treatments administered. Administers injections and medications and performs other patient care procedures as directed and according to established criteria. Assists physicians during treatment, testing and examinations. Performs lab tests and collects blood specimens peripherally and from central venous access devices. If providing coverage in medical oncology may administer chemotherapy infusions according to physician orders and established safety guidelines.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be licensed in the State of South Dakota as a registered nurse or eligible for licensure. Two years nursing experience required. Oncology experience is desirable.
