PRAIRIE LAKES PRESENTS FREE HOSPICE PROGRAM “LIVING WITH GRIEF: END-OF-LIFE ETHICS”

On Tuesday, April 24 Prairie Lakes Healthcare System will present the Hospice Foundation of America’s 19th Annual National Bereavement Program titled “Living with Grief: End-of-Life Ethics.” Using a case study approach, the program will examine the ethical issues and dilemmas that emerge at the end-of-life, the principles of ethical decision-making, and the effects of decisions on staff and families.
The discussion will be moderated by Lynn Sherr, former ABC News' 20/20 correspondent. The panel includes noted authorities on the subject of end-of-life care, including: Timothy R. Arsenault, MA, Director of Spiritual Care for Suncoast Hospice; Karen Bullock, PhD, LCSW, Associate Professor at North Carolina State University; Eileen R. Chichin, PhD, RN, Co-Director of the Greenberg Center on Ethics and Palliative Care at Jewish Home Lifecare; Kenneth J. Doka, PhD, MDiv, Professor of Gerontology at the Graduate School of the College of New Rochelle; Bruce Jennings, MA, Director of Bioethics at the Center for Humans and Nature; and Hank Willner, MD, Hospice Medical Director and Palliative Care Consultant at Capital Caring.
This program is offered free of charge and is open to the public. Registration starts at 12:15 p.m. in the lower level of the Prairie Lakes Medical Office Building located at 401 9th Ave. NW in Watertown. The program runs from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Continuing education contact hours are available through the Hospice Foundation of America.
