DONATE DURING THE 6TH ANNUAL ALL AMERICAN BLOOD DONOR DRIVE POSTED: JUN 20, 2012 Prairie Lakes Healthcare System, Watertown Radio, HyVee, and Community Blood Bank will host the 6th Annual All American community blood drive on Monday, July 2 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Tuesday, July 3 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Watertown Mall (east entrance). All blood types are in immediate and urgent need to help with the holiday blood needs! “Blood usage has been up nearly 20% in the past weeks leading up to the July 4th Holiday placing a heavy burden on the blood supply,” states Ken Versteeg, Executive Director, Community Blood Bank. “It is crucial that the blood supply is at an adequate level prior to the July 4th holiday for use in traumas, surgeries, burn and cancer treatment. Please consider donating blood when we are at the Watertown Mall July 2nd and July 3rd. Your donating will impact lives throughout the holiday.” Donors donating blood on either July 2 or July 3 will receive a special commemorative ALL AMERICAN BLOOD DONOR t-shirt and a free lunch, compliments of Hy-Vee, Watertown. For those who donate blood on Tuesday, July 3 from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. there will be free Java Central Coffee and cinnamon rolls. Donors must be at least 17 years of age (16 years old with a signed parent consent form found at www.cbblifeblood.org), weigh 110 lbs or more and be in good general health. Please bring an ID with you. It is recommended that donors eat and drink plenty of fluid prior to donating blood.
