DR. ALKAIED TO GIVE TALK ON CANCER SCREENINGS POSTED: SEP 27, 2012 Dr. Homam Alkaied, medical oncologist and hematologist at Prairie Lakes Cancer Center, will offer a free community presentation on cancer screenings. The presentation will take place on Thursday, October 4 at 11 a.m. at the Active Heating, Active in the Fight Against Cancer, Open House. According to the National Cancer Institute, “Some types of cancer can be found and treated before they cause symptoms. However, not all types of cancer have screening tests and some tests are only for people with specific genetic risks.” Dr. Alkaied will discuss the screenings available, what types of cancers they pertain to and who should be screened. In addition, Dr. Alkaied, Dr. Jeffrey Brindle, radiation oncologist, and Kristina Rieffenberger, certified nurse practitioner will be at the Open House from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to talk with attendees and answer questions.
