Emergency Services
 In an emergency, patients receive quick response and compassionate treatment from the physicians and staff in the Emergency Department at Prairie Lakes Healthcare System.
The Emergency Services Department at Prairie Lakes Healthcare System has expanded to meet the needs of the people in our service area. The new expansion brings an additional 6,200 square feet and will help accommodate the 12,000 patients examined in the emergency department each year.
The department's expansion includes the additions of:
five exam rooms, increasing the total to 11 rooms including a trauma room with two bays a new central nurses station, strategically placed adjacent to the new ER rooms a private waiting area for critical patient family members two physician dictation cubicles an enlarged registration area a dedicated ER waiting area children's play area private staff and physician areas additional space for patient support a second ambulance garage was also added, with a dedicated work space for ambulance staff Specially trained medical personnel and physicians care for patients in the Emergency Services Department at Prairie Lakes 24 hours a day. In addition to trauma and life-support training, the emergency team is trained in basic cardiology, advanced cardiac life support, pediatric advanced life support, and care of trauma patients. Specialists on call meet the needs of patients in many areas including orthopaedics, obstetrics, ENT, urology, general surgery, internal medicine, pediatrics, and family practice.
