Job Description:


STATUS:  Part-Time (.3/24 hours/pp)

        8 hour shift – day/evening rotation

        Every other weekend and holiday and occasional shift during week (6 hrs-evening)

DEPARTMENT:  Emergency Department

LPN DUTIES:  Interviews and assesses patients as they are admitted to the Emergency Room. Contacts physicians regarding patients. Arranges Lab/X-ray tests as necessary.  Prepares and assists with procedures such as chest tubes, etc. Takes admission orders.  Performs related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Graduate from an approved school of nursing.  Currently licensed in the State of South Dakota or eligible for licensure. Good assessment skills and basic coronary skills required.  One year previous Emergency Room or Critical Care experience desired.


CARE TECH DUTIES:  Performs various duties assisting staff with care and transfer of patients from Admitting, ER, PAR, and Radiology. Completes all tasks related to the cleaning, wrapping and delivering of all utensils/instruments from ER, CSR and Therapy Services for sterilizing. Transports specimens and requisitions to Lab. Performs clerical duties relating to the Emergency Services Department. Potential for cross-training into other departments.  Performs related work as required.

CARE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  High school graduate or possesses a GED certificate.  Previous nurse assistant or related health experience is required. Physically capable of lifting, transferring and positioning patients.
