Fjeldheim Completes Pain Science Fellowship

Eric Fjeldheim, Physical Therapist with Prairie Lakes Rehabilitation Services is one of only 20 fellows in the United States to complete the Fellowship in Pain Sciences through Evidence in Motion.

Fjeldheim completed his Therapeutic Pain Specialist certification in 2018 to broaden the scope of practice available to people receiving rehabilitation services at Prairie Lakes Healthcare System. “Eric’s certification and passion to understand the science behind pain has helped advance the way we help patients recover and regain mobility,” said Dot McAreavey, Director of Rehabilitation Services and Wound Care. “He shares his expertise across the organization which only strengthens our mission of making a positive difference.”

The next goal for Fjeldheim was to complete a 350 hour fellowship program. The Fellowship in Pain Sciences through Evidence in Motion provides advanced assessment and treatment for people suffering from pain. Fellows gain an exceptional understanding of pain in order to assist them with decision-making when caring for patients.  The Fellowship in Pain Sciences fosters a community of first-in-class clinicians and equips them to revolutionize care for patients with complex or chronic pain.

“Pain is a very complex, individualized, whole personal experience, which makes it all the more important to have treatments that match the individual,” said Fjeldheim. “This training has really evolved my understanding and practice towards the treatment of painful conditions to help people find a path forward.”

Those who have been experiencing aches and pains for longer than a few months may benefit from seeing Fjeldheim. Patients can make appointments by calling Prairie Lakes Rehabilitation Services at 605-882-7700.
