Brynlee loves playing on slides and eating chocolate ice cream. Her mom, Alyssa would much rather spend time with her in the park than in the hospital. “When Brynlee turned one year old her symptoms started to affect her,” said Alyssa. “For over a year if it wasn’t her breathing, it was her ears. Brynlee was in and out of the hospital with breathing problems and continuously seeing her physician for ear infections. Our physician diagnosed Brynlee with asthma, but we still were struggling to keep her healthy.”
Alyssa started looking for answers to Brynlee’s ear infections and a family member suggested that she schedule an appointment at Prairie Lakes Ear, Nose, & Throat Clinic. “Dr. Mancell and the clinic staff were very thorough and provided us with the information we needed to make the decisions best for Brynlee. We discussed all of her health conditions, not just the ear infections.” Dr. Mancell examined Brynlee’s throat because of her breathing problems. He and Alyssa discussed Brynlee’s conditions and determined to remove her tonsils and adenoids as well as place ear tubes. The procedures happened all in the same morning for added convenience and comfort for Brynlee.
“The surgical staff members were very attentive and kept me informed of Brynlee’s progress. When she woke up, the first thing she asked for was a sandwich. She was good as new. The hospital employees were very caring and accommodating; Brynlee even had her favorite ice cream.”
Three years later, Brynlee is doing well and is excited to start kindergarten. “Brynlee has not been hospitalized since, has not had an ear infection, and the originally diagnosed asthma seems nonexistent.”
